Candy's S9 appearances

I rewatched all the Candy episodes in S9 back in May during a few really slow days at work (or sometimes at the very least all the Candy scenes in an episode), so here's the breakdown of all the times he's in an episode, sorted into four categories.


Candy focused:
S9E2 A Sense of Duty - His introductory episode. Technically a Ben episode not a Candy focused one, but I’d say this is essential Candy viewing so it counts.

S9E4 Judgment at Olympus - Candy is accused of murder. This is a frustrating episode to me because it’s a classic ”whole town against the Cartwrights” story, which I tend to hate, but ymmv. Kind of a sweet ending though.

S9E21 The Crime of Johnny Mule - Candy is featured in this one (though he’s secondary to Hoss) but it’s personally not a favorite. He’s on a jury with Hoss and goes with the assumption of the guy’s guilt like everyone else except for Hoss.

S9E23 Star Crossed - Candy's first romance episode, very sweet first half but like always for the main characters of this show it can't last.

S9E28 To Die In Darkness - An emotionally intense episode for Candy, he gets caught up in some revenge being taken out on Ben so technically he isn’t the focus but he definitely goes through it.


Candy does a lot but isn’t the focus:
S9E10 Showdown at Tahoe - Gets his usual outfit here (was in a black outfit up to this point). [Edit: Actually he first wears it in S9E5 Night of Reckoning, but reverts to black briefly in S9E8 Desperate Passage.] Does a fair amount but idk if I’d call this a Candy focused episode exactly. Also, the first episode where he has a bit of a flirty dynamic with a girl, but not a full out romance yet.

S9E12 Check Rein - I wasn’t sure if I should put this episode here or in the next category, but I guess he does stuff, it’s just mostly stupid decisions.

S9E16 A Girl Named George - Some good Candy moments and Joe is rude to him for no reason.

S9E24 Trouble Town - Starts like a Candy episode but is actually more of a Ben episode by the end.

S9E25 Commitment at Angelus - Gets hurt but not a focus in the episode.

S9E31 The Stronghold - Starts off with no Candy but once he shows up he’s got some fun lines, and also he gets to go undercover.


Candy in it but doesn’t do much:
S9E5 Night of Reckoning - Candy is in most of the episode but doesn’t do a whole lot, mostly just sits there making faces.

S9E6 False Witness - Candy doesn’t do a whole lot here either, though he does attempt to leave working for the Cartwrights (with their knowledge of it) before the events of the episode happen. (But Joe gets shot so that’s fun)

S9E8 Desperate Passage - Another episode where Candy is there for most of the episode but doesn’t do much, though he’s got a nice line about Ben.

S9E15 The Trackers - Nothing exceptional in the Candy department, though he does just wander into the house which is always fun.

S9E18 The Burning Sky - Barely in this one, though Ben does call him one of their top hands.

S9E19 The Price of Salt - Candy was there for most group scenes but didn’t do much.

S9E22 The Late Ben Cartwright - Only in this episode a bit, doesn’t do a whole lot when he is there.

S9E29 The Bottle Fighter - Candy is there a bunch but doesn’t get to do a whole lot, there’s a pretty good mystery in the episode though. (To the point where I stopped skipping scenes without Candy because I wanted to hear how the mystery was done.)

S9E30 The Arrival of Eddie - I’ve said before that Candy doesn’t do a whole lot, but this time is the least he’s been in an episode so far.

S9E32 Pride of a Man - Candy is in a few scenes, pretty much just around to pester Joe


Candy not in it:
S9E1, S9E3, S9E7, S9E9, S9E11, S913-S9E14, S9E17, S9E20, S9E26-S9E27, S9E33-S9E34

Hope y'all enjoy, this was a lot of fun so I definitely wanna do it for S10 at some point. (When I have the time that is.)
