Guest Star POW 12/7 ~ Robert Pine

Post by CowgirlAtHeart »

Robert Pine played Steed Butler, the son of barn-burning Calvin Butler, in "The Running Man." He was mixed up in all the evil things his father was doing, but he wasn't happy about it!

Robert Pine was born Granville Whitelaw Pine in 1941. At first he planned to go into medical school, but after some time in pre-med he became an actor instead. He started out in Westerns in the 60s and then expanded into all kinds of movies and TV. He is best known for his role as Sergeant Getraer on the show CHiPs. I was surprised to discover he was in two episodes of The Office as Jim Halpert's dad. He was also on Star Trek: Voyager. (Fun fact: Robert's son, the actor Chris Pine, has followed in his footsteps by portraying Captain Kirk in three of the newer Star Trek movies.) Robert is another Bonanza guest star who is still involved in acting. He has been in 34 different movies and TV episodes in the last five years alone!
