Ben: Yes there is. Hoss, Adam wasn't trying to hurt you, he was trying to help you.

Hoss: By makin' love to Regan?

Ben: No, he went there to talk to her.

Hoss: Sure he did. But he ended up with her in his arms and kissin' her. Pa, I'm in love with that woman and I'm gonna marry her. Don't you understand that?

Ben: What do you know about her?

Hoss: No, Pa. What did you know about my Ma when you married her?

Ben: I knew everything I needed to know.

Hoss: Fine. I know everything I need to know about Regan.

Ben: You don't know everything about her. You don't know what Adam was trying to tell you.

Hoss: No. Pa, I'm not gonna hear anything bad about Regan from Adam or you or nobody else.

Ben: Son, don't blind yourself to the truth about her.

Hoss: I don't care about her past.

Ben: Hoss, it's not just the past. I'm worried about the future.
