What does your nick stand for?

This is a fascinating thread! Nettle is a corruption of my name - Annette - and, when I first signed up with it originally on twitter, every variation I tried didn’t work. So someone suggested I use my birth year with it.

I’ve regretted it ever since.

That's interesting, I didn't see the 'i' as an i, I couldn't see the dot above, so I thought it read 'nettle', as in stinging!
My sister's name is Annette and she always complains that she never hears of any other Annettes anywhere, she thinks she's the only one! She hated being called 'Nettie' though!

It is Nettle as in stinging ! But - Oh my days, I sympathise with your sister. Nettie is what everyone calls me! Even at work it was never Annette - always Nettie. My nephews know me as Auntie Nettie. The only person who doesn’t call me that is my mum!
