A poignant and mezmerizing story. I will admit there is one thing I don't agree with concerning "The Crucible". Still this a very powerful story.
Thank you, Sierras! Don't worry about not agreeing; I don't really have any set ideas on exactly what went on behind the scenes in The Crucible. The story of that ep could be written a hundred different ways, precisely because we as an audience weren't privy to all the things Kane did to Adam to drive him over the edge. My biggest problem with that episode--and the main reason I decided to explore it via fan fiction--was that I couldn't see why always-cool Adam was set so off kilter by Kane. I mean, the being forced to eat with his hands things certainly wasn't enough to do that, and it bothers me that fans with modern-day mindsets often focus on that. Let's face it--Adam, as a 19th century cowboy, had eaten with his fingers hundreds of times. It would not bother him to do it, because he had done it often. Granted, simply being held prisoner and forced to labor in a hot mine was bad enough--but this is Adam we are talking about. I could see Joe going nuts in this situation, but not Adam. There had to be more. Granted, the "more" did NOT necessarily have to be what I alluded to in this story. That was just one possibility among many, any of which have credibility. I'm glad you enjoyed reading this version of what happened. :)
