Dear Janet, I loved the spooky and creepy atmosphere of your story-perfect for Halloween. And I loved seeing Sam-someone who never carries a gun-to be the hero this time! A wonderfully spooktacular story!
Thoroughly enjoyed this fun tale... 'The Three Amigos' or 'The Ponderosa Ghost Busters!' The juxtiposition of the fiery Little Joe cowering behind Big Brother the addition of Sam though he had to be there, didn't he? Secret rooms, sliding walls and of course, blood curdling screams...what's not to like?
Wow! This was great. I can just imagine Joe's panic, Hoss' worry, and Sam's levelheadedness in all of this. Sam wasn't the kind to be scared off by anything. He seemed to me the superstitious type, but not the scaredy-type. I'm glad they got to the bottom of things.
This is a wonderful comedic story with Hoss and Joe doing Laurel and Hardy at their best. Sam is one of my favorite characters, and so glad to see him play a starring role.
I don't think I've ever seen a story in which Sam the bartender played a bigger role than just pouring drinks and sharing information. I love that you had Sam join them, and that he not only joined, but also saved the day. As for a man who went along only not to be seen as a coward, he did really great once he was inside the house. I'm proud of him. And all this without needing a gun, too. What a hero! Unlike Joe, whose behaviour was so funny here (but I get you, Joe, I'd be clinging to Hoss too if I was in such a scary place). Btw, runninig away like that at the beginning—really brave of you, boys LOL I find it both funny and very adequate that it's the thought of Adam's and Pa's reaction that convinced Joe to go back. And I giggled when Hoss needed to manhandle him inside. Also, I really liked your descriptions of the house, it sounds like a fascinating place I'd love to explore. I've alwas wanted a secret room! Though I'd probably be as scared as Joe if I had to go in there at night. While reading, I tried to come up with some thories with what the "goblin" might be, but I never expected it to be what it turned out to be. You surprised me here not once, but twice, and I love that! I enjoyed this story a lot!
Thank you, so very much for your wonderful review. I'm so glad you enjoyed my story. I had fun with the characters and I think that's what it's all about sometimes.
