Title: Chapter 1 Reviewer: Tahoe Lee Signed

I really enjoyed this story.

Joe definitely did some deep soul searching.  I think he learned a life-lesson that would stay with him forever.

The idea he had about the west could cost him his life.  He looked at the grief and devastation of the other family and seen that as a symbol for his own family.

The last sentence is pure Joe Cartwright!

Well done!

Love the picture with your story too.

Author's Response: Thank you, Tahoe Lee. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I was thinking this is a little of why Joe goes after Adam in "A House Divided" and he goes after Hoss in "Vengeance". Thank you for the review. I appreciate it. :)

Title: Chapter 1 Reviewer: adamant Signed

I'm reading this for the Reading Club challenge.

A dramatic story that shakes up young Joe to such a degree that it shifts hie desires for his future; he realizs that it's better to have ties than to just float about the orld, doing what one desires and having no one to tell him what to do. But then, with no one holding you back, there's no one to know when you've really gone.

Author's Response: That's the message I wanted to get across. Thank you, adamant, for your review. I appreciate it. :)

What a horrid thing to come across! I'm glad they found out who his family was. Joe's change of heart is natural after coming across such a sight.

Author's Response: Yes that would have left Joe doing some thinking. Thank you for your review. I appreciate it. :)

Title: Chapter 1 Reviewer: Sharry Signed

This little story reminds us of the value of family and the importance of our bonds to everyone we love the most.  Joseph gained some insight into why he should slow down his thinking and wait to grow up a little more before taking on the world without the rest of his family to lean on.

The Cartwright brothers know how to work together whenever it's necessary.  No wonder Ben is so proud of all of them.  :)
