Title: Chapter 1 Reviewer: Bahj Signed
Tracy, even though it's sad at times, this is such a heartwarming story. I love the idea of the memory quilt, but I have to admit, Little Joe's present was the most touching of the two.

You did such a nice job giving us a glimpse of what spending a winter in the mountains would be like, and your descriptions of spring refreshed my winter weary heart. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story :0)

Author's Response:

Thanks, bahj, for reading and reviewing.

I had to reread this before I wrote a review, not because I had missed anything or not understood anything - just because I needed to do it.

Prequels  - especially a prequel such as this really get to me.  You captured everything that is the essence of the Cartwrights and stitched your words together with a fine needle.

Maybe I should read it a third time so that I can feel the comfort of those quilts cosseting my mind.

Author's Response:

ansinico. thank you for your kind review. I wasn't sure the story would work -- quilts are unfortunately not of the current generation. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story.

Tracy, I really enjoyed this story about gifts -- all types of gifts. And often, when we put on a piece of jewelry that was a gift or spray a cologne that was a gft, we think of the giver and are happy all over again.

The C's were delineated perfectly and I enjoy prequels such as this. The plot was original and fell naturally into place -- not at all forced. And this delightful, charming and touching story is such a wonderful gift you gave us. Thank you.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Adamant for your kind words. You and I must be alike in the sentiment arena. So many things--smells, tastes, even certain colors--put me right next to my mom again. If only . . .
