This was a truly enjoyable story. The detailed narrative, suspenseful plot, and strong interactions between characters kept me in my seat, eagerly awaiting what would happen next.

Something about this story and the way you write that really caught my attention was how vividly you described each character's actions. Beautifully done.

This will likely be a story I'll read to my family on Halloween!

Wow! You had me on the edge of my seat. I love the way you built the suspense, and it was an unusual twist to have Adam frightened. It seems most of the time it's Joe or Hoss who sees the creature and Adam is the one to calm him/them. I also liked the way you brought in Ben's seafaring days.

Wow - I've tried writing two previous reviews on this story.  Neither has taken...  We'll see what happens this time.  If this one doesn't stick something weird is underfoot.

I was spellbound by the suspense that was all around here.  I loved it!  It occurs to me the attack Adam witnessed on Joe would have been potentially double traumatizing for him due to the memories of the attack on his father years earlier.  No wonder Adam was so glum.  He burdens were many.

I loved the emotional intensity that was so evident in this story.  Ben is extremely close to each one of his sons, and that was evident here.  Adam carried his grief for Joe's injury in every fiber of his body.  He wasn't ok even when it was apparent Joe would be.  The poor man - I hope the whole family was exceptionally good to him after such a traumatic experience.

I loved your story!  Thank you for writing such a suspenseful and spooky Halloween tale.   :)

I can do nothing more than echo Joe's sentiments ...

'Wow, that's some tale Jules.' &  'One scary night.'

I reviewed this story once before it disappeared from the Library, and I can't remember what I said the first time I reviewed it!

This story is terrific!  The suspense is very well-done.  I was holding my breath to see how the Cartwrights were going to cope with the situation.  I really like the story Ben tells about the origin of the medallion!

Author's Response:
