Title: Chapter 1 Reviewer: Sierras Signed

A sweet poignant story.  It's nice seeing the story through Amy's eyes.  How can a girl help but fall in love with Little Joe Cartwright?  Those green eyes ("pines in his eyes"), that sweet smile, those giggles, and he's so cute and sweet.  :)

Author's Response:

Thank you, Sierras! And yes, how can any girl not fall victim to that Little Joe charm? ;)  Thanks for reading!

"The Julia Bulette Story" told through Amy Bishop's eyes...a very interesting idea and very well executed!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Cowgirl! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Poor Amy - she's going to have a short life. That's the price she'll pay for Joe's loving her. Well told, southplains!

Author's Response:

Lol, so true, Pt29646!!  Poor Amy, indeed.

I adore the way she describes everything she sees in Little Joe when they finally come face to face. It would be hard not to be in love with him!

Author's Response:

Thanks, LittleJoe4Ever. I paid some EXTREME attention to the Truckee Strip and Julia Bulette episodes while I was writing this, especially Truckee Strip. I wanted to capture all those nuances that we see in Little Joe. Such expressiveness in that face. Also, I really wanted to delve more into how the town felt about his relationship with such an infamous woman. Thanks again for reading, and for all your encouragement!

What a wonderful, interesting insight into Amy's character. Love the development of her feelings for the boy with the pines in his eyes...which of course l can completely understand and share.

Her trying to dislike JC; her unrealising her own jealousy of Julia Bulette. Her stubborn refusal to give into her own inner feelings until that special day.  You gave credence to it all and wrote an enjoyable and believable story.

Author's Response:

I somehow missed this review. So a belated thanks to you, Ansinico, for letting me know your thoughts. Glad you enjoyed it!

Devotion is a look into the past as well as the future. Carrying an attraction for anything forbidden draws more attraction, and living with that forbidden attaction weighs heavily on the heart.

This story builds a Bonanza character in a way that "her" own episode could not.

Thanks, southplains, for a look into the girl who took Joe into her heart and the woman who became his beloved.

Author's Response:

Ah, yes, forbidden anything tastes sweeter, and forbidden love carries the most temptation of all. I agree that Amy's character wasn't fully developed during her only episode; this was my chance to maker her feel more alive. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my take on her and her relationship with Joe! Thank you!

What a great story! I really liked the way you considered the town's reaction to Joe's affair with Julia. The character of Amy rang true.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Pt29646!  I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wrote this story after someone in a forum discussion questioned how Joe's girlfriends would feel about the fact he had had an affair with a notorious woman like Julia Bulette, and this was the result. Thanks so much for reading and letting me know your thoughts!
