:uk Hello to all of you out there in Ponderosa land. I'm John, probably the oldest new member you might have at 80! I was brought up on a diet of westerns and can still vividly recall my mother telling me about the show she had seen over here in the UK, when Wild Bill Hickock and his travelling show visited. I was hooked! The saturday morning cinema kept my imagination going, then the usual films, but tv westerns didn't really do much for me until the Cartwrights rode into town! What a show! I could really relate to them as I tried to be like Ben, but usually ended up being like Joseph!
It wasn't until recently when some friends of mine (David & Karen otherwise known as The modeller and Heartbeatgirl) re-introduced me to the show, and wow, on my new digital widescreen tv, the show looks like it was made only a few years ago, and what tremendous colours, the scenery, the stories and some great acting too. I'm well and truly hooked again. I might not get on here too often as I have to use Davids computer when visiting, but I will keep in touch, and look forward to investigating more, including the historical sites.
