James Coburn was born in 1928. After doing some stage acting and TV acting, he rose to fame in 1960 when he appeared in The Magnificent Seven. A couple other big movies he appeared in were The Great Escape and Charade. James was a prolific actor for many decades; he took a break from acting in the late 70s and early 80s due to severe arthritis, but after finding a medicine that helped with his symptoms, he returned to the big screen for many more acting roles. His last role was in 2002. James won an Oscar for his role in Affliction in 1997, and he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He passed away from a heart attack in 2002.
