A TRIBUTE TO DAN BLOCKER
ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH
May 13th

It hardly seems no time at all; yet another year’s gone by.
And yet we still remember him; he was such a special guy.
With a rather salty turn of phrase, sometimes he sounded blue.
But when the chips were down, he always knew just what to do

He was a devoted family man, both on and off the screen.
A father, husband, brother and son, the best there’s ever been.
As Hoss he cared about the land, and the animals running wild.
And he was always the first one there, to help a lonely child.

And Dan, too, was a good guy to know, and never forgot his roots.
He often held parties for his old pals; he didn’t grow too big for his boots
After serving in the war, and seeing death ‘close up’, he knew the score.
Live each day like it’s your last, you might not have many more.

And, unfortunately, that was the case; he was still a young man, when he died.
Like many others in this world, when I heard the news, I cried.
I felt like I had lost a friend, a real good one at that.
But I know that life is not all bad, when I can still see Hoss in his hat!

We miss you big guy
