Patina's Flood Recovery

Post by patina » Sat Aug 13, 2016 11:10 am

I have evacuated to the Parentals' house since my neighborhood is flooding. We're still getting rain but the storm has moved west.

Fortunately I learned to drive in floodwaters in a car as a teenager. And fortunately. I made it out of my neighborhood in time. Floodwaters are coming from the nearby Amite River and a creek that flows into the river.

My neighborhood in relation to the Amite River.

I got out, with Dad's help in packing things and moving, around 9:30. The below pic was taken by someone in my neighborhood around 10 AM. This is on the road that goes to my neighborhood, near the neighborhood entrance. My little car wouldn't have made it out if I'd waited any longer.
