Ben, Hoss, Sheriff Coffee & Professor McCarthy are all at the Ponderosa, on a rise overlooking the townsfolk who are after the leprechauns.

Ben: I just don't believe it.

(The townspeople, armed with ropes & nets are calling for the leprechauns....)

Ben: Have those people taken leave of their senses?

Roy: Want me to run 'em out, Ben? You got a legal right to run 'em off your land.

Ben: No, no, it'd just cause hard feelings. No, let 'em go. Maybe when they've worn themselves out, they'll come to their senses and see how foolish this whole thing is.

Hoss: Or they'll find one of those leprechauns and prove to you I ain't lyin'.

Ben: Now Hoss, how many times do I have to tell ya they ain't gonna find any leprechauns. A leprechaun is a mythical creature, like in a storybook, like pixies and elves.

Professor: Excuse me, Mr. Cartwright but if those weren't leprechauns your son saw, exactly what were they?

Ben: Well now I don't know what they were. But if there are little green men running around out there, the more men we have lookin' for them, the quicker we'll find them. And the sooner we get this cleared up, the better for all of us.

Professor: All right, if that's the way you feel about it, I suppose you won't mind if I take a little look around, will you?

Ben: No I don't, Professor. Look around all you want.

Roy: I believe I'll poke around a little too if it's all right with you, Ben.

Ben: Why not? Good hunting.

Hoss: Pa, what about me: I'd sorta like...

Ben: Now look, Hoss. Maybe them people down there have all that time to waste lookin' for gold but we got work to do so let's go back and do it.

Hoss: Pa, wait. It ain't the gold, it's them little men, Pa. I gotta find 'em if they're down there. I gotta prove to you and them other people I ain't lyin and prove to myself I ain't crazy. Pa, it's very important to me.

Ben: All right, Hoss, get it outta your system. But on one condition: after all this is over and you don't find anybody, we won't ever mention it again. Right?

Hoss: Right. (He rides off).

Ben: LEPRECHAUNS!
