Will Cartwright

Somewhere I read that Guy Williams ( Will Cartwright) wasn't exactly accepted among the crew because they had a feeling that the producers wanted to replace Pernell's role with the role of Will. I don't know if that is true, but wanted to ask your opinion. Did you like the role of Will Cartwright? Would you have liked to see more of him?
