For some reason, my mother HATED Bonanza and so it was never allowed on in the house when I was a kid. However, this extended to Little House and Battlestar Galactica also! (Imagine being a little girl growing up in the 70's and not being able to watch Little House on the Prairie!) I never really thought about these shows much, though and went along obliviously watching other things.
About two years ago I had a job where I wound up being home in the afternoons and started watching Bonanza reruns on MeTV. Not surprisingly, I discovered it was a wonderful show and especially fell in love with the scenery. I am still catching up on the latest eppys but I think I've seen all through season 8, now.
I am very jealous of you baby boomers who were able to see Bonanza the first time around. I can only imagine what it was like to have a newly minted show to look forward to every week!
