Sick or Injured Dan?

Frannie asked an interesting question in "Bonanza Viewpoints," a couple of days ago. She asked if anyone remembered any times when Dan seemed sick or injured, and no plausible explanation was written into the script. Nobody seemed to know much of anything about the subject.

I saw an ep years ago, where Hoss was soaking his foot in hot water at the beginning (in the kichen), and was supposed to have had a sprained ankle, I believe. We didn't see much of him, after that scene. (I had actually forgotten about this scene, until Frannie mentioned it, as part of her question.) I didn't think much about it, until the next time I saw the ep ("The Night Virginia City Died".) I remember wondering what it had to do with the story line. Anyone know if he had some sort of accident while filming this, or any other ep, aside from "The Dowry?" Has anyone ever noticed him appearing to be sick during an ep, with no explanation given? (I have heard him have a lower voice, as if he had a cold, in a couple, but nothing was mentioned in the storyline.)
