Adam's Childhood--The Pre-Inger Years

I thought maybe we could have some interesting discussions about Adam's childhood. He went from being an only child raised by a single father, to having 2 parents on the trail and becoming an older brother, then back to being raised by a single father, and finally to being in a 2 parent household. In this thread, we'll only talk about Adam's childhood up to meeting Inger.

Let's start with his early childhood. Was it all spent on the trail west? Did Ben have help? Did Adam make friends easily? According to the episode that introduces Will, Ben and Adam stopped in Ohio on the way west. Since Adam and Will are close in age, did they get in trouble a lot? Did they play nice together?
