Stopping for the night on the way back from town to the campsite, Clay introduces Joe to an alcoholic beverage called “pulque” and regales him with stories of his days in Mexico. Joe has a pretty nasty hangover the following day. Ben says to Clay in a sardonic sort of way that they had quite a time last night.
