I always felt that Ma Hoad and Ben should have had a romantic liason--there was electricity between them (not that they had electricity back them--I'm using the modern metaphor--"was a lamp oil between them" doesn't work somehow.) She had a certain, oh, je ne sais quoi, appeal about her--of which you seem to be aware. I congratulate you on your discerning taste in women. Not many men look beyond the surface to see the soul within. But then, who ever loved who loved not at first sight? (BTW, that's a quote from Hero and Leander--don't want to be accused of plagiarism! )

And sorry, I don't write any fan-fic about Ma Hoad so you're going to have to live off your own personal fantasies!

Now I'm picturing a mud fight between Ma Hoad and Clementine Hawkins for the affection of Ben Cartwright.
