Joe: Know who she is, Pa?
Ben: No.
Adam: She must be the one..
Ben: Huh?
Adam: that cleaned the house and made that stew.
Ben: Why would she wanna do a thing like that?
Joe: Shh. Don't wake her up. She must be tired from doin' all that work.
Adam: Hoss can tell us who she is.
Joe: He may be in town all day. Hey Pa, there may be something in that satchel tell us who she is.
Ben: I don't wanna go in the satchel.
Joe: Well why not? No telling how long Hoss might be away.
Ben: It wouldn't be right.
Joe: Go ahead and look in the satchel.
Adam (giving Ben a poke): Go on.
EDITED TO ADD:
(Ben complies, reluctantly. As he roots around in the satchel, Nellie wakes up and starts whacking the cane around. (See below.
Nellie: For shame, man! The shame! What kind of terrible scoundrel you are! A man who would rob a poor old woman in her sleep is capable of anything. And how dare you come into this house with mud all over ya!
Ben: Now ma'am, will you please stop for just one moment? I'm Ben Cartwright, these are my sons and we're in this house because we live here.
Joe: And seein' as we didn't know who you were ma'am, we, we thought we'd look in your little satchel there and see if we could find out who you were.
Nellie: You have tongues, haven't ya? All you had to do was ask and I'd tell ya that I'm Nellie Lynch.
