Benjamin or Ben?

I have a couple of questions:
1. Do you think Mr. and Mrs. Cartwright most often called their son Benjamin or Ben?
2. IF the character we love had been called "Benjamin" instead of "Ben", would it have made him any less of an everyday-type of guy? Would calling the character "Benjamin" all of the time have made him appear more "stuck-up" because of his wealth?
