I was watching LHOP this afternoon and thought it was a curious coincidence that Mary Ingalls Kendall's husband is named Adam. So I looked up Mary Ingalls in wikipedia and discovered that in the bio of the actual Mary Ingalls, she went to a Blind School in Iowa for seven years, but then joined her parents in South Dakota and lived with them and with her sister Carrie until her death. In RL, she was never a teacher of the blind and she never married.Therefore, when Michael Landon decided to alter the story of the Ingalls' lives, Mary's husband was a complete construct. And so it would seem that he chose the name Adam somewhat deliberately, and I'd like to think with some affection for Joe Cartwright's oldest brother, Adam and the man who played him, PR.
