The Scar on Pernell's upper lip

I was wondering has anybody ever noticed the scar on the left side right above his upper lip and it extends to part of the lip. I noticed this in a lot of other photo's of him but not all and I wonder if it was because some were taken before and some were taken after or was it just the stage makeup they use that covered it up on some photo's. I also wondered how he got it. It looks like it was split pretty good maybe even stitches at one time.

I just love how Pernell even managed to make a scar look sexy. Because on that oh so perfect face of his it looks sexy.
