George was born Jure Dolenc in 1908 in what was then Austria-Hungary but is now part of Italy. He moved to the United States and began acting in the 1940s. His best-known role is that of the Count of Monte Cristo in the TV series The Count of Monte Cristo. With the money he received for playing that role, he bought the Marquis Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. George was in Scared Stiff with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He played the Emperor Theodosius in Sign of the Pagan. Two of his children, Micky and Coco Dolenz, became actors as well. George appeared onscreen from 1941 to 1963; his role in "Marie, My Love" was his final role. He passed away in 1963 from a heart attack.
