Hoss and Ben had to search for Little Joe's attackers because the sheriff was just too lazy to do it. After watching all of CSI:Miami, CSI:NY, and all of NCIS so far, I really wanted to just reach through the tv screen and smack the sheriff. He was just too lazy to investigate ANYTHING!
...Joe delirious from fever.

This is one of my favorite episodes. I agree with you Ellie about the sheriff and there is no reason for it. I am always drawn to the hurt Joe episodes.

This was one of the most perplexing Bonanza episodes I recall watching as a child. It was too metaphorical for me at the time; too upsetting to see things like Hoss pointing a gun at Joe and firing... I couldn't understand why Joe was being tortured like he was at the time.

In contrast, one of my favorite moments was when Hoss shoved the guy trying to smother Joe through the window. I really enjoyed that. :applause1
