How does a small child travel all alone on a stage coach thst far, and then get placed in a windowless Wells Fargo wagon?! It was a cute episode but dragged on too much with the misbehavior of Samantha.

There are several occasions where we see children alone on the stage, like the deaf-mute Tommy or Will and Charlie from Gallagher's Sons. I would guess that in those days, if there was no other way, the children would be put on the stage alone and entrusted to the driver to deliver them safely to their destination.
In the case of Samantha, she probably took that stage (and the other passengers) apart, so they placed her in a "safer" place to take her the rest of the way to the Ponderosa.

I like it when children visit the ranch; the boys are wonderful with them, particularly Mike, one can see how much he loved children. It must have been a lot of fun and a great memory to have been a child actor/ actress on Bonanza.

I enjoy this episode very much because it has some serious and emotional scenes mixed with very funny ones. The scene where Ben had to spank Sam and then feels guilty for doing it is later picked up when she asks Ben if he did it because he loves her, and the look on Ben's face when he "admits" it is just beautiful. Then poor Hop Sing chases her around the table and the boys watch, or Ben showing her the dress he bought while she has the pillow on her head :laughing.
I just don't know what to do with the indian though, he seems a bit akward, hanging around the Ponderosa, being interested in the girl, but never even speaking to her or anybody...
"They´re three fine boys Jed...hard workers and a good head on their shoulders...they are close to each other as brothers should be!" Ben in "Springtime"

this is one of my top ten super great episode. I love the tender moments between Ben and Sam after she changed her behaviour.

I wondered why the scenarist wrote about Ben laughing and then disciplining her. She threw things in the kitchen, poor Hop Sing had to deal all alone with her, Ben and his sons were laughing; ANd the day after, she broke the vase. Ok maybe Ben arrived to the conclusion that he had to step in, even if he was reluctant to punish her. I really like Hoss's attitude, he was the first who wanted to discipline her. And I like how he was supporter with his father. Candy was great with Sam, it's a very sweet episode.

I think if Sam had been a boy, he would have been physically punished sooner. The Cartwrights sometimes were irrational when it came to females.

This is a fun episode. I love when she refuses to wear the shirt to bed and says 'I sleep raw' Hop Sing chases her all over the house after saying 'you no sleep raw this house' I can't blame the Cartwrights for laughing-I still laugh! Later she says she's going to marry Joe and also Candy. They needed her at the Ponderosa once in a while. She helped liven things up.

Girl or no girl - I don't think Ben would have permitted her behavior for so long and then suddenly decided she needed a spanking. We hear no verbal warnings from Ben, and not even disappointed or angry looks when she mouths off to them all. I don't find it in canon character for any of the Cs.

maybe he didn't feel like disciplining her, as he was more upset about the fact that a mother could let her child alone being delivered to strangers in a strange place. And that was maybe because Hoss mentionned it first, that she needed a spanking, and maybe Ben decided to discipline her. But first he didn't want to do it, maybe because she was a girl.

Often I wish, we could have Adam in this episode, I wonder what he would have added to it. I'm sure, he would have been a great support for his father too, as Hoss was.

I liked this episode, especially the dialogue between the girl and Candy as he's trying to fix a fence. So funny!!
Wait a minute, wait a minute. What you're saying is that at your age, you don't know the difference between a girl and a horse?

I enjoyed this episode for the most part, but I think Samantha did have too much attitude for my likes.
