This is my favorite Candy episode. Not only do we learn about Candy's past, but the scenery (shot around Lake Tahoe) and chase scenes are spectacular.

In the early scenes, you'll see Lorne, Dan, David, and Michael riding and shooting - usually, we only see Michael doing this sort of thing.

We learn that Candy's mother died when he was four, he knew the "manual of arms" at the age of seven, and his military, non-com father was killed when Candy was nine. Raised by other non-coms, Candy was riding scout for the military at the age of seventeen. We also learn Candy was married to the Colonel's daughter, and the Colonel sent Candy far away on a mission and had the marriage annulled while Candy was gone.

I love the "looks" between Candy and Ben when Ben first learns Candy's last name is Canaday.

One problem with the episode is that near the end, the good guys all agree that there are about 18 of the enemy left alive. Candy even mentions there are four guarding their horses, and others scattered on the mountainside, standing watch. But when an explosion is set off, and only four bad guys appear in the scene, it's all over. What happened to the other twelve?

This has a lot of exciting and tense moments. It's very well done by all of the actors. I'm not sure what Ben thought of Candy at first but he welcomed him to go to the Ponderosa with them.
