I love this episode but I can't help wishing there had been a scene at the end where Joe makes up with Mitch. I guess we're supposed to assume that he does.

What I do when I don't like how something ended is write another piece to it. I did that with the episode The Crucible, and wound up writing a two-parter. You should try it, CowgirlAtHeart. Then you'll be truly satisfied. :yes

This might have been a two part episode. I'm thinking that there could have been flashbacks to Little Joe as a child experiencing his first fear of heights.

The thing I like about this episode is that Joe acts like a jerk - just like you would expect a young man to act when confronting a fear he doesn't understand. I enjoy that they would show a Cartwright with flaws.

It's a great Joe episode. He plays his fear so believably. I always feel bad for Joe.

This episode just makes me uncomfortable because I have a fear of heights too. I just could never understand why Joe is pushed to get over it! There's a reason for that fear! LOL

Or as the character of Sheldon Cooper from Th Big Bang Theory put it when he was invited to go rock climbing and hesitated.

"A fear of heights is illogical. However, a fear of falling is prudent and evolutionary." :grin

Makes you think that the earliest humans who may have said ,"'Wee, isn't it fun being up here? Let's go to the edge for a better looooooooo...." didn't live long enough to procreate!!

I also have a fear of heights but Joe being a young man refuses to admit or confront his fears. Adding to that fear was later explained to him by his pa, when he was 5yrs old having climbed up, and needing to be carried down by his pa. I would also liked to have seen Mitch in later episodes, being friends again.

I guess it's a good thing that didn't happen again- I mean, can you see Ben having to literally carry full-sized Joe down that mountain? That would've been interesting!! :laughing
