I'm sure it was fun for ML to play a different character. But when you think about it, there was really no reason story-wise for "Joe" and "Angus" to be near-twins. No one identified Joe as Angus from looking at him; it all depended on the clothing and the documents that Angus planted on Joe.

Anyway, I remember the first time I saw the episode. When we saw Ben and Hoss approaching the fort and the firing squad shots rang out, I was shocked! They couldn't have shot Joe!

Michael did a good job playing two parts. I love the part when Ben and Hoss meet up with Angus at the hotel.

It must be a great challenge for an actor to play two different characters in one episode. Note that Michael Landon played the bad guy in his regular decent-Little-Joe-clothes and the good one in the shirt of a criminal. Yeah, Joe having narrowly escaped the firing squad, but the Cartwrights won´t leave a member of the family in the lurch.

This is such a suspenseful episode, I was on edge all the time, and when it turned out the telegram to Ben had not been send, I really didn´t see how Joe would get out of this... and I like the moustache :yes

It isn't really surprising that Michael Landon would be playing doubles, considering how he played it in the Season 2 episode, "The Gunmen." What's really surprising is how he was able to pull off "Angus" without laughing when Ben and Hoss caught up with him!

The minute I saw Ben and Hoss look at him, I knew exactly how they were able to tell that it wasn't Joe. The gunbelt was hanging on the wrong side! Joe was left-handed, so his gun would've been hanging on his left hip. But with Angus, the gun was hanging on his right hip.
Maybe he became ambidextrous in the army? :laughing

The suspense is so well done in this one that even though I always knit while I watch Bonanza, I had to stop knitting when the soldiers dragged Joe out in front of the firing squad. My fingers just wouldn't move.

I loved the backwards gun belt on Angus, too!
What, are you practicing to be a burglar, bettin' that kind of money on a two-card draw?Joe, "Queen High"

Really? I find I'm able to knit faster when there's a dramatic scene. I don't even look at my knitting as I'm doing it when I get really involved. (Maybe that's why I make so many holes?) :laughing
