I watched this episode tonight for the first time in a very long time; it had been a number of years. I could remember only bits and pieces from seeing it initially all those years ago, and I couldn't remember exactly what had happened between Adam and Hoss that started a fight. Oh yeah, I remember now...

Viewing it all as an adult is quite different, isn't it? I could hardly watch when I realized Adam was in for a pummeling from his brother and he knew it, yet he didn't fight back - not really. It was also incredibly hard to watch Hoss hit him, and just as hard to see Adam try and recover from it all. It frightened me how fast Hoss turned on him.

Jeepers! I know it worked out, but I don't like seeing either of them that upset and unglued. :sad

This is one of my favorite episodes, although it has some of the most "non-favorite" bits in it. I just can't believe Hoss would turn so violent against Adam without first giving him a chance to explain--this SO out of character. Then when Ben & Joe walk in and try to stop the fight, Adam jerks away from Ben's touch in a really rude manner. But all said, it's a really interesting story.

It does seem out of character for both of them; maybe that's what bothered me. Although, when hurt or injured whether emotionally or physically, men in particular do tend to respond back with anger. I guess that's how I viewed Adam's behavior because so much had already gone wrong, and he was really frustrated. Hoss must have been in love, so he just totally lost his marbles. :adam :hoss

I'm sorry - I think I probably stuck this thread in the wrong place. Further proof I shouldn't do much late at night on the computer, or in the morning before I've had enough coffee. Some days there just isn't enough coffee I might add.

Adam knows what's going to happen when he walks into the bunkhouse. A slug by Hoss would be bad at any time, but one by an angry Hoss would cause major damage.

Adam knew it was coming and even egged Hoss on with his "you asking or telling?" comment. I think Adam felt guilty - and I think he SHOULD have felt guilty! When Regan leaned in to kiss him, he acted like he was hypnotized.

What I like about this episode is that it's one of the few that I'd seen where Adam and Hoss really fought as brothers.
