The Hayburner is my favorite comic episode. I loved every single character from Lath, the livery stable owner, to Enos and Cora.

I love the scenes with the brothers when Joe wants Adam's rifle and when Adam and Hoss find out Joe is racing against them.

"The Hayburner" is one of my favourite episodes.
I like the first scene with the poker game, when Adam says to Hoss: I you weren't so big I'd just poke you one right in the mouth".
And every time I hear the word "security" I have to laugh.

This is an all time favorite of mine. "The Hayburner" and "Springtime" I could watch over and over again.

There are a lot of hilarious scenes, too many to mention. And I must admit, I'm not so sure I got all of the jokes yet. I giggle a lot while watching... So I'm afraid I'll have to watch it again tonight. :drool

Security... LOL

Oh, this is one of my all time faves, and not just because Adam is soooooo - well, you know - :drool It is a great showcase for all of the guys. Predictable? Yes, but hilarious, too! You picked a good one, Jan!

Ans, you are a riot, girl!

The opening scene where Hoss puts up the horse to cover his gambling losses is wonderful. It's hilarious to watch Hoss' face as it slowly dawns on Adam exactly what is happening with the racehorse!

So many good scenes, but my personal favorite is the one where Ben is coming down the stairs, and at first he's happy to see Hoss and Adam home. Then he takes one look at Joe, who has his feet up on the settee, and Ben tells him in a stern tone, "Joseph, get your feet off the settee."
Joe says, "Yes," but then doesn't do it.
His father takes the mail from Adam, sits down, notices the feet still there, and says in an even stronger tone, "Joseph, how many times do I have to tell you?!"

That said, has anyone ever bothered to count just how many times Ben had to tell Joe, throughout Bonanza's 14 year run, to get his feet off either the couch, or the table?
Wait a minute, wait a minute. What you're saying is that at your age, you don't know the difference between a girl and a horse?

There is an episode where Adam has his boots on the table and Pa just looks but never says anything, Then another episode where he has his socked feet on the table.

I think the episode you mean might be The Frenchman and My Brother's Keeper. Am I right? :grin

Interesting episode. Full of fun and scheming. Wonderful acting. Many funny lines. A pity they changed the characters to fit the story. Hoss usually is the level-headed non-gambling one. Adam not losing his cool about Hoss losing the horse? Not being honest about the whole affair to Pa? They knew he would find out somehow. Joe being overly greedy in his demand for security - you think Adam would fall for that under any circumstances? Maybe but still a bit over the top. Then Joe's backstabbing - where's the so-called brotherly love and loyalty that the show wanted to project? I really thought there was a bit too much greed from Joe. Then, in the end, Hoss's betrayal to put the cherry on this farce.
This script could have been much better if they stuck to the characters. The good acting of all involved sort of saved it. It always irks me when a character is changed to fit a story. Maybe I am too critical.
