Don't use the automatically generated subtitles of this episode on YouTube ... or do so in case you need some good laugh! Yesterday I accidentally used the subtitles button and got a laughing fit when I read through them during the first 10 minutes. For example, Ben says to Adam something like "Well, they always have been our friends." The subtitle reads "Well, as to the africans..." :rotfl And that sort of nonsense changes with each and every other upload of the same episode.
Just try it and have fun! :ha
(It's a relief to know that we translaters and interpreters are no dying breed at all :cool1, though English isn't my major task.)
How many lives - do you figure - yours is worth? (Adam in "The Way Station")
A child is no pot to be filled, but a fire to be ignited. (François Rabelais)

I like the episode but I have no idea what Joe saw in Morvath! He was ready to fight Adam because he said something about her, but in the end it was Joe who said to let Adam speak before the delegates voted. He saw that Adam was right all along-Morvath didn't really care about him after all.

Joe as a delegate had the right to invite his brother to speak before the delegates. And he did because he trusted his brother's judgement in spite of their disagreements. Great thing when love (or something like that) does not influence your own judgement in the end!

There are some nice aspects of this episode, but apart from the War, it’s another Joe wants to marry the first girl he sees and loves her “more than anything in the world.” Right, Joe, because you haven’t said something similar before (and won’t say again).

Still it was a nod to history by touching upon Nevada’s desire for statehood and some sympathies of the British toward the Confederacy.

On a side note, I wonder if the Terrys considered New Mexico Territory. They had confederate sympathies at the time.
