Death Valley Days ~ 1952-1970

Post by Tracy » Sun Apr 23, 2017 5:26 pm

"Death Valley Days" was an American radio and television anthology series featuring true stories of the old American West, particularly the Death Valley area.

Created in 1930 by Ruth Woodman, the program was broadcast on radio until 1945 and continued from 1952 to 1970 as a syndicated television series, with reruns (updated with new narrations) continuing through August 1, 1975.

The series was hosted by Stanley Andrews, alias "the Old Ranger" (1952–1963), Ronald Reagan (1964–1965), Rosemary DeCamp (1965), Robert Taylor (1966–1969), and Dale Robertson (1969–1970).

I'm watching seasons 1-3 (a gift from a friend) and I hadn't realized that some of these episodes are set in the 1900s -- with automobiles! I'd always thought it was a western set in the 1800s.

As non-Cartwrights went, worse looking cowboys definitely existed than Dale Robertson.
A gun is only a tool, like your jackknife; no better 'n no worse than the man who handles it. Any man can pull a trigger. It's not hard. But it takes a big man not to pull one. -- Adam Cartwright

I agree with you there, but he isn't in the first 3 seasons, and that's all I own. :sad
