Wagon Train

You guys ever watch Wagon Train? It last about 8 seasons and was a pretty good western. It always had pretty good stories to it or so I thought. I especially liked the last two seasons 7 and 8 that had Robert Fuller in it. He made it extra special. :drool

I agree, Raina_30! I'm a huge Robert Fuller fan. He also did another western called Laramie (I think that was the name) where he was a major character.

I grew up with this series....loved it. I had a crush on Flint M. long before I saw Little Joe.

I remember watching Wagon Train with my mom when I was little. She never missed it. Never met a western that she didn't like. Growing up her heroes were Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and most other cowboys!

The character I remember best was the cook in charge of the chuck wagon. Was his name Charlie?

Does anyone remember the mention that Wagon Train received in the film 'Stand by Me'? It was set in 1960 or so. The boys were talking long into the night around the campfire and at one point Gordie (Wil Wheaton) asked ,"Did you ever notice on Wagon Train that they never get anywhere? Every week the just keep trainin'." :grin

Poor kid, he didn't realize that they were different trains that the wagonmaster was leading. I read that Wil Wheaton's grandfather worked on that show, so they gave a little nod to it.

MeTV is running "Wagon Train" where I live. The last four or five episodes have been pretty heavy on the Flint McCullough stories (that's not a complaint). I wonder how hard it was to film the river crossing in the dark, where the wagon sinks in quicksand?
