On Sept 25 and 26, Gunsmoke fans celebrated the 60th anniversary of the show with a gathering in Dodge City.

Here's a video made by one of those attending.
Watch closely and you'll see Michael Dante (Bonanza episode The Brass Box and attendee at the Bonanza Round Up gathering), Buck Taylor (who played Newly on Gunsmoke and is the real life son of actor Dub Taylor), Roberta Shore (who played Betsy on The Virginian), and Burt Reynolds (who played Quint on Gunsmoke).

Oh, I enjoyed that! Thanks, Tracy. It's shame that only Buck Taylor and Burt Reynolds are still with us. Seeing Reynolds was sad as he was soooooo handsome at one time--for a long time--and "Deliverance" still showcases his arms and shoulders even better than playing Quint Asper. He was one hunk. Old age is a B*tch.

I found a facebook page for the event: https://www.facebook.com/gunsmoke60thAnniversary2015

I haven't seen anything about Burt Reynolds in several years. Bless his heart, he's looking his older than his age (79).

Buck Taylor (Newly) was also on Bonanza; he played one of the gang in "The Hostage".

I'm a bit sad that Morgan Woodward didn't attend, but he's also getting up there - he just turned 90. I was watching a Perry Mason last night and he was on it, so I looked up his IMDB.COM page and it said he had done more guest roles on "Gunsmoke" (19) than any other actor.

I found this about Burt:
"There’s no doubt decades of illnesses and injuries have taken a toll on Burt — and it’s only getting worse. “Burt has health problems on so many fronts and they’re slowly eating away at him,” a friend reveals."

He did most of his own stunts for his entire career and had intensive back surgery in 2009.

I saw Burt Reynolds on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" a couple weeks ago. He seemed sharp as ever, but they didn't show him walking to his chair, so I assume they had to either wheel him or help him walk over to the seat.

For Burt Reynolds fans, if you have MeTV you can watch his episodes starting on Tuesday (Dec 8). He played "Quint Asper", a half-Comanche, for 50 episodes 1962-65. I'm looking forward to this; I've never seen these episodes.

I saw Burt on the show Kelly Ripa does. He walked onto the set - no cane. And he was his devilish, humorous self, that's for sure.

Ellen, I own Gunsmoke (the seasons that have been released) and I think you'll enjoy Quint (Burt) on the show! His relationship with the other characters is great.

The best part about the episodes with Burt Reynolds is that Quint Asper was a blacksmith and you are able to see his magnificent bare arms. In "Deliverance" he wears that sleeveless wet suit and his arms just leave me gaping. Gorgeous.

Fun fact: both Burt Reynolds and Pernell Roberts were born in Waycross, Ga.
