Alias Smith and Jones

Post by BuckAndCochise » Thu Jun 20, 2013 3:45 pm

Just discovered this show recently and I immediately fell in love. Best part of it was that it was more funny than it was serious. Sure, it had its seriousness but the fact Kid and Hannibal were just so laid back was what made it so funny and of course, their so called "gang" that was more like a bunch of bumbling idiots than actual robbers. Image I have the biggest fangirl crush on Peter Duel as Hannibal Heyes, him and his over dramatic sense of nothing is going to go right and that they'll be in jail forever (in the first ep that is) and that sarcasm was my favorite thing. And he was cute, that was definitely a plus. Reminded me of Adam, Joe, and Candy all mixed into one, brainy and crafty, but not always right when they actually sit down and calculate what's going to happen. Image

I can remember being absolutely devastated when Pete Duel shot himself. I stopped watching when they tried another guy as Hannibal Heyes. No. Way.

I got to the ones where the other guy came in and I went: "Why'd the guy quit?" Then I read he'd killed himself and I got sad :sob The other guy did okay, but he wasn't Pete

Did you know that Pernell Roberts guest starred on "Alias Smith and Jones" twice. Exit from Wickenburg and Ten Days to Tenstrike.

Yep, and so did David Canary.

This western was more comedic than serious and that set it apart. It was a tragic shame that Peter Duel shot himself and the chemistry was lost when they tried to replace him with someone else.

Used to love Alias Smith and Jones and was so sad when Pete Duel shot himself - didn't mind Roger Smith but the chemistry wasn't there. Its one of those western series that never seems to resurface - not like our guys - thank goodness its running again here on CBS Action.

It really was. Roger Smith did his best but you just couldn't replace Pete. Kinda like if they'd tried to cast someone else as Adam, it wouldn't have worked at all. :sad
