PJudith wrote:Yes that was the episode with Robert Walker, Jr. Why did you hate it? It's not my favorite, but it's okay. I just watched The Iron Box a few days ago. Those Barkleys sure get themselves in some dangerous situations. Just like the Cartwrights.
I just hated the way Robert Walker Jr.'s character was written. that's all.

I know what you mean. The character of Evan was super nasty. He seemed to have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. When Jarrod started to read that laundry list of his past crimes, or as his dad referred to them , "boyhood pranks", I got the feeling that Evan was a true sociopath. He didn't care who he hurt. He was unfeeling, cruel and vindictive. He was one of the creepiest characters on The Big Valley.

The Barleys must have had the same loyalty card for jail as the Cartwrights. They too could dismiss a gunshot wound as a trivial flesh wound and get on with the fight.

I'm not so sure the writers ran out of ideas as much as they figured if it had got past the network brass and the Office of Standards and Practices before, it wouldn't be hard to get it past again.
A gun is only a tool, like your jackknife; no better 'n no worse than the man who handles it. Any man can pull a trigger. It's not hard. But it takes a big man not to pull one. -- Adam Cartwright
