Computer Troubles

Well, it finally happened! My son had bought me my laptop for Christmas in 2009. It was originally Windows 8, which took a bit of getting used to. It then went to 8.1, which was a step up, then Windows 10. Several days ago, my Virus protection popped up and said it removed a Malware. It said it again the next day. It was being scanned automatically but two days later my computer shut down. It won't re-start. :sob I'm using my tablet [ which I hate] but have put in a scandisc that I had made for back-up, didn't work, then I tried my old CD with Windows XP-still won't work! My son-in-law has a friend who works on computers so please cross your fingers he can fix it. My toes are also crossed! :scared3
