John Vernon was born Adolphus Raymondus Vernon Agopsowicz in Canada in 1932. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His first film and television appearances were in Canada; in 1967, he began acting in the United States. He was cast as a lot of bad guys and played them well. He is known for his roles in Point Blank (in which Lee Marvin, another Bonanza guest star, played the leading role), Dirty Harry, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and National Lampoon's Animal House. He played Tony Stark in a 1966 TV series of "Iron Man." He also acted in two different adaptations of the "Incredible Hulk" as Major Talbot. He continued voice acting into the early 2000s until he passed away in 2005.
