I haven't seen this in quite a while --- actually years -- but the story of Hiawatha was one of those told in Shirley Temple's Storybook. It is a surprisingly mature story with a handsome John Ericson as Hiawatha and PR as the smolderingly sexy Papakeewis -- even with his body shaved. (I am spelling his name phonetically as It is not listed in the IMDb credits.) The men's source of animosity is over the lovely maid Minnehaha. Yeah, not what Longfellow wrote although in the poem, there is a character named Mudjekeewis but he is not a villain and falls in love with another Indian maiden in section III of the poem.

But on with the picture!
