The High Chaparral Trivia

The Cannon family runs the High Chaparral Ranch in the Arizona Territory in the 1870s. Check out another western by David Dortort.

The High Chaparral Trivia

Post by A Ponderosa Pine » Fri Jun 06, 2008 4:17 pm

The High Chaparral was David Dortort's brainchild, and he left the day-to-day running of Bonanza in the spring of 1967 so he could focus all of his energies on The High Chaparral. After the show's cancellation in 1971, Dortort did not return to Bonanza, but retired instead.

I imagine Mr. Dortort used alot the experience and knowlege he gained from Bonanza when he came up with High Chaparral. They were both outstanding westerns, still enjoyed today.

I think Mr. Dortort had more time to spend making The High Chaparral more historically accurate, and I really do appreciate that!
