The Cannon family runs the High Chaparral Ranch in the Arizona Territory in the 1870s. Check out another western by David Dortort.

Just now looking at this post. The theme song from High Chaparral brought back lots of memories. Bonanza was always my favorite, but HC was one of the shows I watched faithfully, along with the Virginian and the Big Valley. there is a them there.

Ahh, that brings back memories... My first love was Hoss, my second was Yadkin (on Daniel Boone), and my third was Jarrod on Big Valley. :hearts Was anyone in love with Mano? When he smiled, it was all over... :thud (It was years, before I figured out that his name was short for "hermano" (the Spanish word for "brother").

I loved all the Cartwrights, although I think Joe was my love. That hermano connection is pretty clever!! I loved Manolito! I liked the character played by Richard Long, I think that was Jarrod. I liked Trampas on the Virginian.

High Chaparell was not a favorite of mine until I got older. Maybe the dynamics were too different from Bonanza, which I loved and still do. Anyway, I fell for HC later when it was in reruns, and Mano made me swoon!

As for Big Valley - my blood pressure bolted for all three of those men, just as it did and does for the Cs.

Did HC come on after Bonanza? Sunday night was the only time I was allowed to stay up until 10 o'clock on a school night. It was a very special treat, so I just said thank you and never argued about any other programs.

I remember that it used to come on opposite The Wild Wild West and my older sister and brother would argue over which one to watch.

I liked the Wild Wild West too! I thought it would be neat to live in a train car. Didn't they travel that way? It was James West (?) and I am thinking someone named Gordon Ross (or was that Ross Gorden? or neither ) played the sidekick.
