In the 50's and 60's there were a lot of "character" actors. They were used over and over again in all series programs. Today, that would never happen. There are so many actors out there, they wouldn't use one actor for one part in a series and then use that same actor in another series, they'd just get a totally new face.

I loved how we all got to know the characters of TV in so many different roles. I wish they'd put High Chap back on TV or atleast put it out on DVD so I can watch this one. It looks good, but I've never seen an ep. I guess I'll have to watch it through Pine's threads. :thumbup

Thank you for that, Pine!!! I never realized that all of the major cast (the Cannons, the Montoyas, and the regular hands) guest starred on Bonanza. Were these appearances before High Chaparral began?

Yes, all of these people were on Bonanza before starring on The High Chaparral. Being on Bonanza is how most of them came to the attention of David Dortort.

Bonanza was a stepping stone for a number of guest stars.

It's a terrifc, very authentic western, Elisha, and David Dortort's attorney is trying to get it released on DVDs in the U.S. just like he's trying to get the BZ DVDs released in the U.S.

Actually, The High Chaparral is my favorite western; BZ just happens to have my favorite cowboy on it, lol!
