HC's Bob Hoy in Nevada Smith

Post by Adamant » Sun Mar 06, 2016 7:41 am

Last night I watched Nevada Smith with Steve McQueen--I had first seen it as a kid--but this time around I recognized Bob Hoy as a Louisiana prisoner; he had a beard and moustache. Then after Smith escapes, Hoy shows up in another scene (not as the same prisoner) as a poker player--clean shaven. Neither character had a name nor was Hoy given credit but I'm sure he performed some of the stunts. But I thought it was amusing that the facial hair made him unrecognizable as a clean-shaven man. But then when McQueen (who I've read was a misogynistic wife-beater) is on screen, no one else gets any attention.
We never really grow up; we just learn how to act in public--anonymous
