DD was very short sighted IMO, it could have left the window open for possible occasional appearances of PR as a guest star. Wouldn't that have been a great treat! As for Roddenberry, I don't understand that reaction to Nichell Nichols at all. It just seems that anything goes in Hollywood...or did then :shrug

The tempers and personality clash side of Hollywood is something that I am glad that I'm not a part of!! Reading about another actor stormy departure from a series makes me wonder why they can't all "just get along!" :shrug Too much emotion flying around, maybe!

Hope you don't mind me posting this, but I came across this rare picture of Mark in his office circa 1968, and I think like many of his contemporaries, he wanted to experiment with other areas of film-making, and who can blame him! :yes

From my collection.

My favorite characters wer Buck--played by Cameron Mitchell, and Blue Boy. Interesting that Blue was named after his father's dog which set the tone for the whole relationship between father and son. (Too bad it seems to have been the same between actors as well!) I was upset though when Mark Slade left and I have never heard of the movie he made. But a person has to find fulfillment and Mark became, as Patina mentioned and hbg showed, a very successful artist.
