Re: Episode 1 - A ROSE FOR LOTTA

I enjoy this episode by seeing it as an alternate universe view of the show. :grin The Cartwrights are very out of character -- Hoss snapping at the horse and leering at the lady in such a creepy way topping that list -- and I could do without the racism, but it still has some of the elements of the...

Re: Episode 83 - THE LADY FROM BALTIMORE

However, I did like the part where Adam told his father, "She's marrying Joe, but she kissed me." And then his solution is to just disappear out of sight for a while. That seemed out of character for Adam to me. He basically tells his father, "Fix this, I'm out," when usually he'd at least have an ...

Re: Episode 47 - THE BLOODLINE

Jeepers, Lorne Greene was exceptional in this episode. Do I detect a Trixie Belden fan, perhaps? :grin I thought the ending was a bit too pat, but aside from that I thought this episode was good -- and most of the acting excellent. Although I had too laugh when Pa tells Hoss that the kid tried to s...

Re: Episode 5 - ENTER MARK TWAIN

The early episodes didn't show as much of Hop Sing but the later ones did. He even had an episode dedicated to him-The Lonely Man. Definitely worth watching! :hopsing1 Another good Hop Sing episode is "Mark of Guilt." I wouldn't call it Hop Sing centric, but he gets a lot more time than usual. I wi...

Re: Episode 14 - THE SISTERS

That sherriff is a terrible shot! Shoots Sue Ellen by accident, and then misses Adam when he's escaping from jail! Sad. Buddy Ebsen is good at playing creepy. :ohmy And it's true that in that time, Sue Ellen wasn't good enough for Adam. Yes and no. In a lot of mining towns in the west, women were so...

Re: Episode 37 - THE HOPEFULS

This is a good episode for Adam. I think when Regina's father dies she feels she needs to take over or that's how it appears in this episode. If you know any history of Quakers this is ridiculous. They would elect a new leader and it wouldn't be a woman. I didn't feel Regina considered herself the ...

Re: Episode 144 - THE WAITING GAME

Did they not teach their children "stranger danger" back then? Not like people do today, no. Kids in that era -- and well into the 1960s -- were a lot more independent and a lot less sheltered than they are today. Although she is young to be home alone even then, however there may have been a serva...

How did Ben and Adam know that Tobias Finch was a no good rotten scoundrel? We found that out as the episode went on, but how did they know that so early on? Love all the pictures you included! I assumed they didn't like Finch because he was so clearly determined to make them heroes. As far as Ben ...

Currently reading John Boessenecker' s Badge and Buckshot:Lawlessness in Old California , and this morning I ran across a passage that reminded me of something else that didn't work for me in this episode. Not only did it not make sense to me that the store owners would just let this guy and his men...

Re: Episode 96 - BLESSED ARE THEY

I don't like the spooky part of the plot; in fact, I think the episode would have been better without the Reverend character. I would have liked it better if he were just the straight-up Reverend, instead of some mystical being. It undercuts Ben's efforts, and makes it seem as if maybe the two coup...
