Re: Episode 144 - THE WAITING GAME

Did they not teach their children "stranger danger" back then? Not like people do today, no. Kids in that era -- and well into the 1960s -- were a lot more independent and a lot less sheltered than they are today. Although she is young to be home alone even then, however there may have been a serva...

Re: Episode 175 - A DIME'S WORTH OF GLORY

How did Ben and Adam know that Tobias Finch was a no good rotten scoundrel? We found that out as the episode went on, but how did they know that so early on? Love all the pictures you included! I assumed they didn't like Finch because he was so clearly determined to make them heroes. As far as Ben ...

Re: Episode 133 - THE BOSS

Currently reading John Boessenecker' s Badge and Buckshot:Lawlessness in Old California , and this morning I ran across a passage that reminded me of something else that didn't work for me in this episode. Not only did it not make sense to me that the store owners would just let this guy and his men...

Re: Episode 96 - BLESSED ARE THEY

I don't like the spooky part of the plot; in fact, I think the episode would have been better without the Reverend character. I would have liked it better if he were just the straight-up Reverend, instead of some mystical being. It undercuts Ben's efforts, and makes it seem as if maybe the two coup...

Re: Episode 179 - A MAN TO ADMIRE

This episode reminds me that my kids have not seen Barney Miller , which I must remedy. I thought this was a okay Hoss episode. Didn't stretch DBs acting chops any, but I liked Hoss sticking with his lawyer despite Ben trying to get him to change, and I was amused (and annoyed) by Joe and Adam watch...

Re: Episode 96 - BLESSED ARE THEY

So many great moments! Loved Joe in his apron, and Joe and Hoss and the pig and how Adam just stays focused on his doll dress (there's a sentence you don't get many opportunities to write...), and Adam helping the little girl get dressed, and Joe, Hoss and Pa dealing with a ticklish boys' buttons, a...

Re: Episode 133 - THE BOSS

Liked the opener (Joe getting shot), and there were a few other good moments, but on the whole I thought this was what romance fans call an "idiot plot," where everyone has to act like an idiot for the plot to work. The Cartwrights weren't idiots, thank goodness, but all the townspeople were. And th...

Re: Episode 59 - THE GIFT

We’re used to seeing Mexicans with dark skin and eyes, but even Mexicans with mostly or purely European blood can have some light features. I suppose. My problem is that I watched Landau on Mission Impossible and Space:1999 , and every time they did a good close up of his eyes it'd remind me of wha...

Re: Episode 162 - A PINK CLOUD COMES FROM OLD CATHAY

Tai Lee is not my favorite character in the series, but she gave the Cartwrights many opportunities to amuse and delight me, so it's all good. I'm so glad Hoss didn't actually spank her! Really, a good dunking was much more appropriate for her stunt anyhow. Although the actress got a permanent back ...

Re: Episode 59 - THE GIFT

I love this episode for the Cartwright stuff, which has mostly been mentioned. But it makes me a little crazy that they cast Martin Landau as a hispanic guy. He does a good job, and the make up is pretty good (unless you're looking for flaws), but there are a couple of scenes where his blue eyes loo...
