Title: Chapter 15 Reviewer: CowgirlAtHeart Signed

I enjoyed this mystery very much!  The plot is well-crafted, and the characters are portrayed in a vivid and engaging style.  Although I don't tend to like OC's that are married to Cartwrights, I like Sibella...it takes a woman with a lot of personality to be a good match for Adam, and Sibella has that personality without being a Mary Sue.  Also, I really like the portrayal of Adam; his personality in this story matches so well with Pernell Roberts' portrayal of the character that I feel as though he's stepped right off the screen and into the story.

Author's Response:

I'm happy you enjoyed this story, CAH -- after all, that was my goal, to write an interesting and enjoyable mystery. I attempt to write all my OC's as individuals, some likeable, some not, and I know exactly what you mean about Cartwright wives; some of them are too wonderful for words and one can't help but despise them! : )  Thanks for reading and for leaving a complimentary review.

Sorry Ant, I didn't get to finish this light-hearted mystery when posted as a WIP.  I was very much enjoying it.  But, not all bad news.  I decided to refresh my memory and read from start to finish.

Love, love, love Sibella - not obviously as much as Adam!  On one hand, she is totally wrong for the man and on the other a perfectly, well-matched apposite. Frivolous, feisty, forthright, vulnerable, stubborn and as adorable as Noah.  Adam, as always you write as I like to read him; strong, determined, satirical, snippy, short-tempered - at times - but, not a short fuse.  And, above all a full-blooded man.

The Cartwright's martial, behind closed doors life interspersed with the detecting added a more than pleasing side-dish.

Dialogue & situations prompted more than mere chuckles.  Got an inkling but not till well near the end.  I fully expected a scenario where all suspects were called together - Agatha Christie style and the perpetrator/s unveiled - but this was more Maigret than Poirot.  Not that you need a mystery/detective mentor - you are well able to cast the reader red-herrings and direct them to down-trodden paths leading to nowhere.

Thank you - I'm wondering now if you could turn Virginia City into a den of intrigue allowing Mr & Mrs Cartwright to work away as Nevada's, 'Private Eye's'?

Author's Response:

Afraid that Adam and Sibella won't be another Nick and Nora Charles or Jonathan and Jennifer Hart -- sorry if it's a disappointment! But I'm glad you finished up the WIP and came over here to leave your opinion; pleased that you feel it was worth reading, ansi. Thank you for leaving such a fine review.

I love a good mystery and this one does not disappoint.  Believable characters and easy to read dialogue that makes you feel you are right there.

It was fun trying to solve this whodunit along with the Sheriff, Adam and some new visitors in town.

Adam and Sibella could have been Mr. & Mrs. Smith ... had he let her.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review, January. And, yes, Sibella was a woman in the 19th century and Adam was also a man of his times which prevented Sibella from being an equal partner in solving crime  -- but she tried! I'm glad you enjoyed this as I tried to add some humorous, light touches to a serious subject. Appreciate your kind comments  about characters and dialogue.

I read this story as a WIP and it was captivating. The characterizations of the Cartwrights are spot-on and the original characters are always believable and very fun.  Your technique with description is pretty much perfect - the exposotion is never overdone or redundant yet there were enough details throughout so I could "see" everything.

The plot is fast-paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. To anyone reading this review - If you love a good mystery I highly recommend this story!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Lisala, as good as your word! Appreciate the positive review and the kind words about the pacing. And for not giving away the end. : )

Title: Chapter 15 Reviewer: Tracy Signed

Having enjoyed all three of Sibella's stories, I can recommend them to any reader who lis entertained by Adam's frustrations. She does give him a run for his money, so to speak.

Each of the OCs in "It Was Murder (or How Adam and Sibella Solved a Crime)" bring a level of mystery and humor, and they fit naturally into the post-Bonanza era.

A fun read full of the 'who done it' spirit.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Tracy, for such a nice review and for comenting about it being a fun "whodunnit". I also appreciate that you had read it as a WIP and left comments along the way.
