I haven't watched this episode yet, but based on the picture summary, and the episode summary I've read, I feel like Ben is under a lot of emotional stress now that Adam is gone and just wanted someone very badly to take his place.

Some more casual talk between the two, the second more serious than the first.

I've always loved how casual they acted around each other. I like it when scenes like this look unscripted even though we know they were. Just the older and younger brother hanging out, talking, listening. Natural sibling behavior.

Hoss was always ready to lend a helping hand, an extra gun, or save the day.

I kind of like the bandanna on Adam. I wonder why he never wore it afterwards.

Very nice family moments. I especially love the end scene from The Crucible. We don't often see Adam display that kind of emotion, but considering what he went through, he needed his pa.

Joe and Adam look like they're having a nice, early morning conversation, and judging by the coffee cups in Joe's hand, Adam must've gotten an early start on chores and didn't have time for breakfast.

I love the expressions of them in the second pic, too. Adam's smile and Joe's dreamy look are great.
